Kenneth R. Mead, MS, PE, has been a mechanical engi- neer at NIOSH for more than 12 years. His primary respon- sibilities include conducting laboratory and field research on the design, evaluation, and recommendation of engineer- ing controls to reduce haz- ardous exposures in occupa- tional settings. He has written several articles on expedient patient isolation, building vul- nerabilities, and other engi- neering topics.
