The number of outpatient pharmacy operations declined across facilities of all bed sizes, but are still most common in the largest facilities; in hospitals with 400+ beds, 59% operate an outpatient pharmacy, while just 16% of hospitals with <100 beds do so. Location also plays a key role in whether a hospital will have an outpatient pharmacy, with urban facilities leading the way: 48% have outpatient pharmacies, compared to only 33% of suburban and 23% of rural hospitals.
