CPOE implementations have experienced phenomenal growth in 2011. In the past four years, CPOE usage has increased from a paltry 15% to this year’s high of almost half of all US hospitals. Hospitals using a hybrid distribution method have been the fastest to adopt CPOE. Movement toward thorough CPOE system development also saw big gains this year, as the majority of facilities are now sending three-fourths or more of their medication
orders via pharmacy CPOE.
