The medication tray management market is evolving in interesting ways. There are new workflow options, including mobile tray solutions, that increase efficiency while lowering inventory costs. In addition, the commitment to automating tray systems is expanding from the largest facilities to all facilities with more than 100 beds. While this year did not have growth in new adoptions, that is projected to change over the next few years as facilities of all sizes look to add this technology, and many existing users plan to expand their current systems.

Following 3 years of solid growth, adoptions remained flat this year.


Historically, facility size has been a strong determinant of system adoptions. Notably, the largest facilities are approaching the 50% mark.


This category engenders strong customer satisfaction, with 85% of users rating their vendor as good or excellent.


 

Bluesight continues to lead this marketplace, followed by Inmar and Intelliguard.


Growth will be the hallmark of tray management systems over the next few years as existing users expand their systems and other facilities adopt this technology for the first time. With a growing appreciation for the accuracy and time savings tray management system deliver, four out of every 10 users plan to expand the reach of their existing systems, while 28% of those facilities without this technology are planning to implement it.

Both mid- and large-sized facilities are looking to adopt tray management systems with Bluesight, TraySafe, and Intelliguard garnering the most interest.
