Among hospital pharmacies that compound hazardous drugs (HDs), 96% rely on CSTDs to support their HD containment practices. Compounders have developed a strong comfort level with these devices as reflected in their impressive user satisfaction ratings, and vendor loyalty is growing noticeably stronger.
Vendor loyalty continues to increase along with CSTD use. Four years ago, more than half of all CSTD users were open to switching to a different vendor, while today just 35% are likely to do so.
As pharmacies look to purchase CSTDs, the leading devices under consideration include Equashield, BD’s PhaSeal, BD’s PhaSeal Optima, and B. Braun’s OnGuard.
