With their 100% user satisfaction rating, ready-to-use (RTU) IVs are popular products in the pharmacy. While they are most commonly assembled in a PEC in the cleanroom, 36% of users continue to assemble most of their RTU IVs on the nursing unit. Despite the significant value these products deliver, they typically account for less than 25% of the pharmacy’s total IV purchases.
A combination approach of utilizing both piggybacks and syringes is strongly favored by a clear majority.
Just under two-thirds of all facilities take advantage of point-of-care devices.
The RTU products marketplace is projected to enjoy strong growth as 45% of facilities plan to increase their utilization of these products over the next 3 years.
Baxter and B. Braun lead the vendors in use, followed by Fresenius Kabi, Pfizer, Teva, and Sagent.
