When <797> was published in 2008, most cleanroom cleaning was conducted by housekeeping employees alone. That practice has become almost nonexistent today. Recognizing the role of consistent, compliant cleaning efforts in maintaining control of the space, there has been a strong commitment to assigning dedicated pharmacy staff to these responsibilities. A similar commitment is now needed in documenting the process of preparing cleaning products as only 53% of facilities currently do this. The wide variety of well-rated cleaning products available on the market provide pharmacy with a multitude of options.

Facilities across all levels of compounding volumes increased their commitment this year to daily cleaning of the cleanroom.

A wide variety of highly rated cleaning products are available, with 90% of pharmacy directors giving top marks to their vendors.

Contec continues to lead this busy marketplace, followed by Kimberly-Clark, Acute Care Pharmaceuticals, and Ecolab.
