While 90% of facilities deem their generic budget to be at least adequately funded, this year saw a jump to 10% in the number of facilities that rate their generic budget as inadequate or completely underfunded.

While the vast variation in drug budgets among facilities of different sizes is to be expected, more notable is the fact that there is also significant budget variation among facilities of similar sizes. For the smallest facilities, most expend under $2 million annually and yet an increasing number are budgeting up to $5 million per year. Expenditures in mid-sized facilities range from $2 million to $20 million, and the largest facilities continue to spend well upward of $20 million each year.
