Pharmacy’s commitment to the added safety this technology brings to compounding continues to grow. While the largest facilities have been
first to adopt IV workflow automation, future implementations are projected to benefit facilities of all sizes. The variety of well-rated vendors in this market are well-suited to support the coming expansion of system adoptions.

This year saw a 14% increase in the number of facilities adopting IV workflow management solutions.

Among the largest facilities, IV workflow adoptions are approaching the 50% mark. While these larger facilities are driving the bulk of new implementations, facilities with fewer than 100 beds also enjoyed an increase in implementations this year.

A variety of effective options are currently available, with new products continually entering the marketplace. Grifols’ MedKeeper and Baxter’s DoseEdge lead the vendors in use. The ‘Other’ category includes facilities who rely on their EHR to provide a level of IV workflow management.
