Intrinsic to every successful pharmacy operation is an effective and compliant compounding operation. PP&P’s 12th annual survey results of US compounding practices is derived from respondents, who reflect a balanced cross section of hospital pharmacies in terms of facility size, location, and compounding volume. A notable trend this year is the consistently increasing volume of compounding that is often paired with a decreasing number of FTEs assigned to the cleanroom.
Survey respondents reflect the cross section of facility sizes in the US.
Over the next 3 years, increases in compounding volumes will be the norm. Facilities projecting drops in their compounding volume are increasingly rare.
In all but the smallest facilities, daily compounding volumes increased this year and are expected to do so again next year.
