At Pharmacy Purchasing & Products, we know how important the integrity of compounded preparations is to the overall quality and efficacy of the patient encounter. PP&P continually seeks to support hospital pharmacy’s efforts to ensure this integrity, and in doing so, we are proud to present the results of our 12th annual State of Pharmacy Compounding survey. The data herein will help you benchmark your operation against those of your peers and provide further insight into current compounding practices.

A primary goal at PP&P is to focus on moving positive debate and conversation forward. By engaging clinical pharmacy experts to help explain the reasoning behind new regulations and sharing your peers’ best-practice approaches to compliant compounding, we hope to continue assisting hospital pharmacies in building and maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient compounding workflow.

PP&P is proud to serve a community of collegial pharmacy leaders who are willing to share in triumph and defeat. No one knows better than the pharmacy director the full scope and weight of responsibility shared by the modern clinical pharmacy. That is why your shared ability to help each other and raise the level of clinical practice is so vital.

We hope you will absorb the information found in these pages and we encourage you to utilize it to improve your practice. Please visit pppmag.com/slides to find a downloadable slide package of this data, as well as data packages from several other surveys. These can be used for new instrument or technology acquisition proposals, to highlight accomplishments you have already made in your pharmacy to justify the costs of improvement, and more. We simply ask that you retain the credit found at the bottom of each slide.

Although the date of December 1st, 2019 may loom somewhat large, there is still time (and there always will be more time) to improve. Let us know how we can help and we will do whatever we can to find the answers you need.

All the best,
