Data from PP&P’s August State of Pharmacy Automation survey indicates that pharmacy continues to play a key role in the purchase, implementation, and ongoing optimization of bar code medication administration (BCMA) systems. Nonetheless, pharmacy’s BCMA involvement has decreased at certain facilities. It is important to note that high involvement by pharmacy in BCMA projects equates to increased system satisfaction ratings, underscoring the importance of pharmacy maintaining a seat at the table for all medication automation projects.
