With the release last year of NIOSH’s updated hazardous drug list and the DEA’s Disposal Act, there is no shortage of new regulations to incorporate into the management of drug disposal practices. Data from PP&P’s survey demonstrate that it is key for pharmacy to maintain up-to-date policies and procedures, as the likelihood of having an environmental practices inspection is steadily increasing. Despite this uptick in inspections, there has been no corresponding increase in the number of facilities receiving citations or recommendations in reference to their waste management practices.
