For three years in a row, use of physician order imaging systems has remained steady: just over 4 out of every 10 facilities avail themselves of this technology, often for those areas and medication orders that are not yet covered by CPOE. In fact, most facilities purchasing these systems for the first time already have CPOE in place and are relying on physician order systems to serve as an auxiliary ordering system.
