Following a few years marked by contractions, outpatient pharmacy is once again experiencing growth as more facilities launched outpatient operations this year to support their patients and enjoy the benefit of increasing revenues. Most gains occurred in the largest facilities located in urban areas, although some growth was seen in rural settings as well. The strong trend toward adopting automation in the outpatient setting continues: 84% of outpatient pharmacies utilize automation, up from 52% 6 years ago.
