The advantages of CPOE are widely enjoyed by facilities of all sizes regardless of medication distribution approach. The implementation advantage that larger facilities enjoyed over their smaller counterparts is beginning to dissipate as facilities with fewer than 200 beds continue to concentrate on implementing this key technology. Moving forward, we expect to see increased efforts at making CPOE accessible and effective for all areas of the hospital, particularly infusion centers, chemotherapy units, and critical care areas.
