Facilities utilizing 2D bar codes for at least some of their medication labeling are now in the majority. Overall, 55% of facilities enjoy the advantages afforded by 2D bar codes, including the ability to encode a significant amount of data in a compact space, and another 10% of facilities are planning to adopt 2D bar codes. Most facilities are using 2D bar codes for a portion of their medications; few use them exclusively.
