Just 8% of hospitals in the US currently operate without ADCs. Not only have these cabinets become commonplace in most hospitals, they also are increasingly used as the primary means of drug distribution. This year saw progress in the number of facilities that consistently utilize bar code verification during the refill process; a majority (56%) now always verify the medications when refilling the ADCs. This practice is most commonly found in facilities that utilize point-of-care distribution.
