Now that the results of Pharmacy Purchasing & Products’ 2014 survey of automation practices have been released (State of Pharmacy Automation, August 2014), we are excited to see how pharmacy managers and directors use this information to improve their practices and lobby facility administration for technology acquisitions. The driving force behind our efforts to refine and improve our surveys each year is the idea that this information can be a powerful tool for benchmarking or to exemplify the need for improved systems.

We have received excellent feedback in the past on how pharmacy directors have used this information to their benefit. Whether it was simply stapling the relevant data to an automation requisition proposal, passing specific information to a colleague, or using a slide package during a conference or internal presentation, many have indicated that the data made a positive difference for them.

We encourage you to drop us a note and let us know how this data has helped your cause. We like to think this information can only help, but all experiences are welcome. If there is a way to further improve our methodology, we want to know how.

All the best,

R. Mitchell Halvorsen
