Developing an effective environmental monitoring program remains a challenge for many in pharmacy. Over one-quarter of hospitals still do not have a monitoring program in place, and few facilities operating such a program deem it excellent. While the pharmacy department is responsible for environmental monitoring in most facilities (62%), there is growing interest in outsourcing these responsibilities: 26% of hospitals now rely on an outsourced services provider to conduct their monitoring activities.
