PP&P’s national survey of 465 pharmacy directors solicited responses from facilities of all sizes, locations, and levels of automation expertise. This year, data continue to indicate that facilities of all sizes recognize the importance of using technology and automation to its fullest capabilities, with the vast majority utilizing a facility-wide wireless network. However, as would be expected, larger facilities are most likely to employ a pharmacy informaticist on staff. Interestingly, e-prescribing continues its impressive growth; 55% of facilities of all sizes have e-prescribing in use, up from just 35% two year ago. In addition, 25% of facilities plan to implement e-prescribing shortly.
