Smart pumps remain one of the most common patient safety technologies, as they are utilized by just over three-quarters of all facilities. Among the facilities that do not currently have smart infusion pumps, approximately half are planning to implement them shortly. However, traditional infusion pumps have not been completely eliminated—only 46% of facilities are currently using smart pumps exclusively. Pharmacy continues to play a vital role in selecting and implementing smart pump technology, particularly in large facilities.
