The trend toward RCRA compliance continues to grow, as reflected in PP&Ps annual Going Green Survey of hospital pharmacy waste practices. The majority of US facilities now report either partial or full compliance in managing their RCRA-hazardous waste streams. In fact, 54% report they are fully compliant, while only 11% are non-compliant. This correlates with an increasing number of facilities implementing focused programs, including the use of approved waste containers, and designated long-term storage areas for managing RCRA-hazardous pharmaceutical waste.
