Properly labeling syringes and other difficult to bar code products continues to challenge many hospital pharmacies. Very few facilities have adopted an automated approach for their preparation, rather, many facilities opt for flag or tadpole labeling systems, or purchase bar-coded products from a manufacturer. Additionally, 30% of facilities still take a purely manual approach. Due to the complexity and expense of an IV robot, implementation is not yet widespread, however, those that do have a robotic device are very pleased with their performance.
