Physician order imaging systems enjoy widespread usage, with most implementations having occurred in facilities with more than 100 beds. Over the next few years, the smaller facilities are expected to increase their implementation rates and should match those larger facilities in the number of physician order imaging systems in use. Given the difficulty in achieving 100% electronic order entry, even many large facilities that have moved to CPOE continue to rely on order imaging systems.
