The era of regular budget reductions is clearly behind us. While the amounts of current pharmacy automation spending are dependent on many factors including facility size and IT infrastructure, future projections indicate increased automation budgets will be the norm across facilities of all sizes in the coming years. As might be expected, facilities with strong IT infrastructure and those with pharmacy informaticists on staff tend to have higher than average automation budgets. In addition, facilities with outpatient pharmacies also are more likely to enjoy higher budgets.
