340B participation continues to increase as hospitals endeavor to provide care to both the uninsured and the underinsured. Unfortunately, the future direction of the 340B program is unclear as the current administration has withdrawn the mega-guidance and proposed a nearly 30% cut in Medicare reimbursement to 340B hospitals. Simultaneously, a bipartisan majority in the House of Representatives is urging CMS to drop these cuts. Pharmacy’s advocacy for continuation of the 340B program has never been more critical.
